Thoughts on Proposition 8 in California?

Although the LDS church raised money to help p it, it was the voters who ultimately decided to ban gay marriage. Many non-California residents are protesting the voters' decision, which is comparable to Canadian Conservatives protesting the election of Barack Obama. I understand that people have the legal right to protest, but I would like to know your thoughts concerning the logical justification for doing so. Thoughts?
